In this project, we digitally transformed a historic panorama of Istanbul into a mindfulness-driven experience.

Produced through the collaboration of Pera Museum and Meditopia, the digital video experience titled "A Mindful Look at Istanbul’s Panorama" reimagines Antoine de Favray’s panoramic oil painting created between 1770-1773. The project received the Felis Award in the Digital & Mobile Felis – Animation and Motion Design category. (2023)

We then applied the real textures from the painting onto the surfaces of these models using projection mapping techniques. Through this method, viewers were able to move beyond simply looking at the painting, stepping directly into it and embarking on a meditative journey within the historical atmosphere of Istanbul.

We modeled all the details, architectural structures, and natural elements from Favray’s painting, staying completely faithful to the original artwork. Cleaning and refining the painted surfaces required significant technical effort, especially as viewers encountered even more details when entering deeper into the artwork’s digital world.

The result became an immersive and meditative digital environment, combining art and mindful experience while offering a contemporary interpretation of history.
